Washington is among 45 states in the U.S. to adopt the Common Core State Standards in classroom learning and assessment. Every public school system in these states will transition to this set of high learning standards by the 2014-15 school year.

The Common Core Standards increase the rigor of what we expect our students to know and be able to do in math and English Language Arts.

As districts around the state work to implement the Common Core State Standards in classrooms, a wide variety of resources are available to help parents understand what that means in terms of student learning.
